Does Tempur-Pedic Sleep Hot? (2026): The Honest Answer + The Coolest Tempur-Pedic Models

Does Tempur-Pedic Sleep Hot? (2026): The Honest Answer + The Coolest Tempur-Pedic Models

"Does Tempur-Pedic sleep hot?" It's one of the first questions we hear at our Las Vegas showroom. And it's a fair one. Memory foam has a reputation for trapping heat, and nobody wants to spend $2,000 or more on a bed that leaves them sweaty at 2 a.m.

Here's the honest answer: some Tempur-Pedic mattresses run warmer than others, and Tempur-Pedic also makes some of the coolest-sleeping mattresses you can buy. Which one you choose makes all the difference.

We sell every Tempur-Pedic model at Bedplanet. This guide explains why memory foam can feel warm, how each Tempur-Pedic model handles heat, and the easiest ways to sleep cooler, whether you're buying a new bed or already own one.

Quick Answer: Does Tempur-Pedic Sleep Hot?

  • Classic all-foam models can feel warm for people who already run hot, because the foam hugs your body closely.
  • Every Tempur-Pedic model we carry has a cooling cover that feels cool or helps pull heat and moisture away when you first lie down.
  • Hybrid models sleep cooler than all-foam models because air can move through the coils.
  • The Breeze® models are built for hot sleepers. The TEMPUR-ProBreeze® feels up to 5° cooler and the TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze® feels up to 10° cooler.*
  • Your bedding matters too. A plastic-feeling protector or heavy sheets can cancel out a cooling mattress.

Our bottom line: If you sleep hot, skip the guesswork and choose a Breeze model. If you only run a little warm, a Medium Hybrid with breathable bedding is often enough.

*Based on Tempur-Pedic's testing of average heat index against TEMPUR-ProAdapt® models over an 8-hour period.

Why Memory Foam Can Feel Warm

TEMPUR-Material® is famous for one thing: it molds to your body. It reacts to your weight and body heat, then slowly shapes around your shoulders and hips. That's what gives you the deep pressure relief Tempur-Pedic is known for.

But that close, "hugged" feel has a trade-off. When foam wraps around you, less air moves between your body and the bed. For people who already sleep warm, that can feel like heat building up during the night.

Three things decide how warm a Tempur-Pedic feels:

  1. The cover. This is the first thing your skin touches. A cool-to-the-touch cover feels cool right away.
  2. What's under the foam. An all-foam bed is solid foam from top to bottom. A hybrid has coils, and coils leave room for air to move.
  3. Cooling layers. The Breeze models add special materials made to pull heat away from your body all night, not just when you first lie down.

Tempur-Pedic has improved its beds a lot over the years. If you slept on a memory foam mattress years ago and woke up hot, today's models may surprise you.

How Hot Does Each Tempur-Pedic Sleep? (Coolest to Warmest)

A money-saving tip most shoppers miss: the ProBreeze® Queen ($4,399) costs less than the LuxeAdapt® Queen ($4,699). If heat is your main problem and you like a Medium feel, the ProBreeze gives you real cooling for less money.

The Breeze Models: Tempur-Pedic Built for Hot Sleepers

If you wake up sweaty, flip your pillow all night, or kick off the covers, the Breeze® Collection is made for you. Both Breeze models include:

  • A heat-diffusing layer that helps pull heat away from your body
  • Ventilated Advanced Relief™ Material for more airflow
  • A SmartClimate® cover that feels cool to the touch and zips off to go in the wash
  • The same deep pressure relief and motion isolation as every Tempur-Pedic

TEMPUR-ProBreeze®: Cooling for Warm Sleepers

The ProBreeze® feels up to 5° cooler* than a ProAdapt. It's a 12" mattress that comes in Medium (all foam) and Medium Hybrid (foam over 1,000+ coils). For most people who "run a little warm," it's plenty. Queen: $4,399.

TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze®: Tempur-Pedic's Coolest Mattress

The LuxeBreeze® feels up to 10° cooler,* twice the cooling of the ProBreeze. It's 13" tall with up to 33% more TEMPUR-Material® than the ProBreeze, and it comes in Soft, Medium Hybrid, and Firm. If you need a Soft or Firm cooling Tempur-Pedic, this is the one. Queen: $5,699.

Hybrid or All-Foam: Which Sleeps Cooler?

Winner: Hybrid

A Tempur-Pedic Medium Hybrid puts TEMPUR-Material® on top of a layer of coils. The foam still gives you that pressure relief, but the coils leave space for air to move through the bed. Hybrids also have a little more bounce, so you don't sink as deep. Less sink means less foam wrapped around you.

All-foam models give you the deepest hug and the best motion isolation. If you don't sleep hot, that's a great trade. If you do, a hybrid is the easy fix.

Firmness Matters for Heat, Too

Here's something many shoppers don't think about: the softer the bed, the more it surrounds you. A Soft all-foam model lets you sink deepest, so more foam touches your body. A Firm model keeps you more "on top" of the bed.

That doesn't mean side sleepers should buy a Firm bed just to stay cool. Your shoulders and hips still need room to sink in. If you sleep on your side and sleep hot, the LuxeBreeze® Soft gives you deep cushioning with Tempur-Pedic's best cooling.

Already Own a Tempur-Pedic? 5 Ways to Sleep Cooler Tonight

You don't always need a new mattress. If your Tempur-Pedic feels warm, start here.

1. Swap your mattress protector

This is the most common problem we see. A cheap vinyl or plastic-backed protector can trap heat and block the cool-to-the-touch cover on your bed. The TEMPUR-Protect® Breeze is made with breathable TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. It's waterproof and moisture-wicking, and it's designed not to interfere with Breeze cooling. Queen: $339. Learn more in Best Mattress Protector for Tempur-Pedic.

2. Change your sheets

Heavy, tightly woven sheets hold in heat. The TEMPUR-Breeze® Cooling Sheet Set uses a TENCEL™ Lyocell blend that's cool to the touch and wicks moisture away from your skin. Queen: $489.

3. Use a cooling pillow

A hot pillow can keep you up as much as a hot mattress. The TEMPUR-Breeze® ProHi 2.0 (for side sleepers) and ProLo 2.0 (for back and stomach sleepers) both have a cool-to-the-touch SmartClimate® cover. Queen size: $225. Not sure which one fits you? Read Best Tempur-Pedic Pillow.

4. Try a cooling cover or topper

The TEMPUR-ActiveBreeze® Cover adds a water-resistant, moisture-wicking, cool-to-the-touch layer. Queen: $389. On a non-Tempur mattress, or a guest bed, the TEMPUR-Adapt® + Cooling Topper adds 3 inches of TEMPUR-Material® with a cool-to-the-touch performance fabric. Queen: $439.

5. Cool the room

Many sleep experts suggest a cool bedroom, often somewhere in the 60s °F. Use a fan, close the blinds during the day, and wear light pajamas. In a Las Vegas summer, that alone can make a big difference.

Sleeping Hot in Las Vegas

Summer nights in Las Vegas can stay warm long after the sun goes down. That's why so many of our local customers who sleep hot end up in a Breeze model, and why we always ask about heat before we recommend a Tempur-Pedic.

The best way to know is to feel it yourself. Visit our Las Vegas showroom and lie on an Adapt, a ProAdapt, and a Breeze side by side. Spend 5 to 10 minutes on each in the position you sleep in.

Is a Breeze Worth the Extra Money?

For a hot sleeper, often yes. Spread over the 10-year limited warranty (about 3,650 nights), a Queen works out to roughly:

  • TEMPUR-ProAdapt®: about $0.93 a night
  • TEMPUR-ProBreeze®: about $1.21 a night
  • TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze®: about $1.56 a night

That's less than 30 cents a night to go from a ProAdapt to a ProBreeze. If heat is waking you up, better sleep is worth a lot more than that.

Both Breeze Queens also qualify for Bedplanet's longest Synchrony Home promo: 0% APR for 48 months on purchases of $3,998 or more, with equal monthly payments, subject to credit approval. That's about $92 a month for a ProBreeze Queen or about $119 a month for a LuxeBreeze Queen, before any add-ons.

Estimates only, based on price divided by 48 and rounded up. Not a financing offer. Terms, eligibility, and exclusions apply. See our financing page for full details.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Tempur-Pedic sleep hot?

It depends on the model. Classic all-foam models can feel warm for people who already run hot. Hybrid models sleep cooler because air moves through the coils. The Breeze® models are built for hot sleepers, with the ProBreeze® feeling up to 5° cooler and the LuxeBreeze® up to 10° cooler.*

What is the coolest Tempur-Pedic mattress?

The TEMPUR-LuxeBreeze® is Tempur-Pedic's coolest mattress. It uses Pure Cool® Plus Material, Tempur-Pedic's most advanced cooling material.

Is a Tempur-Pedic hybrid cooler than all-foam?

Yes. The coils in a Medium Hybrid leave room for air to move, and you sink a little less into the foam. If you run warm but don't want to pay for a Breeze, a Medium Hybrid is a smart middle ground.

Why is my Tempur-Pedic so hot?

Check your bedding first. A plastic-backed protector, a thick mattress pad, or heavy sheets can trap heat and block the mattress's cool cover. Swapping to a breathable protector like the TEMPUR-Protect® Breeze and cooling sheets often helps. A warm bedroom can also play a big part.

Does the Tempur-Pedic cover help with heat?

Yes. The TEMPUR-Adapt® has a cool-to-the-touch knit cover. The ProAdapt®, ProBreeze®, and LuxeBreeze® use a removable, machine-washable SmartClimate® cover that helps draw heat away, and the LuxeAdapt® uses a SmartClimate® Dual Cover System with a moisture-wicking inner layer.

Is the ProBreeze cooler than the LuxeAdapt?

For heat, yes. The ProBreeze® is built with Breeze cooling materials and feels up to 5° cooler than a ProAdapt.* The LuxeAdapt® focuses on maximum pressure relief. At Bedplanet, the ProBreeze Queen also costs less.

Do Tempur-Pedic mattresses get softer when they're warm?

TEMPUR-Material® responds to your body heat and weight, which is how it shapes around you. That's why a Tempur-Pedic can feel a little firmer when you first lie down, then softer as it molds to you.

Can I try Tempur-Pedic cooling mattresses in Las Vegas?

Yes. Visit the Bedplanet showroom in Las Vegas to try the Adapt, ProAdapt, LuxeAdapt, ProBreeze, and LuxeBreeze side by side.

The Bottom Line
